What is Glycemic index (GI)?
Why low gi diet or also called low glycemic diet can be ideal for you. A low carb diet plan or low-gi diet plan has proven to work more effectively than a low calorie diet.
Let me explain to you what happens when you eat high gi food. Basically, the GI measures the effect of a specific food upon your blood sugarlevel after you eat it.
Low GI food rises blood sugar levels slowly, high GI foods rises blood sugar levels faster.
Foods high in GI need more insulin. When the insulin level becomes too high, it promotes the production of excess fat, whilst blocking the burning of fat. Some of my clients were absolute sugar or carb addicts and thought their cravings would never leave them.
I have proven them wrong. Much to their surprise, within less than 2 weeks on a low glycemic diet, my clients cravings subsided.
The other response I have had was, that clients who have been on a low calorie diet before, were still experiencing cravings as they still had their regular high sugar cake or similar treat.
